Ever since the Point Reyes National Seashore was ruined by my discovery of the cruel dairy industry taking place within the park I've been wanting to hold and comfort one of these poor calves. Last week I finally did that, spending 24 hours, including the night, with Tommy at Preetirang Sanctuary. Can you believe Tommy is only 17 days old in this footage! I didn't know a calf could run that fast that young! I guess a lot of things are possible when you don't spend your existence in a tiny cage, alone. 

Tommy had a nightmarish beginning to the world. You can see that despite the tough start he has been resilient and now enjoys exploring and discovering the world around him. He wants to live. Look at what the calved his same age in Point Reyes are subjected to almost as soon as they come into the world. For those of you who try to fool yourselves about the "great places" your animal products come from, well, this is the best of the best of scenarios. There's nowhere left to pretend after this.
